Job summary

Perdue Foods in Westover, Maryland, is seeking a Hatchery Quality Control Checker for the 1st shift. You will protect product quality and animal health by maintaining a clean, biosecure hatchery environment.

You will clean hatchers, hatcher tops and rooms, reset racks, and follow poultry welfare guidelines. Base pay is $19.24 per hour with potential pay premiums and overtime; a competitive benefits package is offered.

Summary

As a Hatchery Quality Control Checker, you play a vital role in protecting product quality and animal health by maintaining a clean, biosecure hatchery environment. You’ll ensure hatchers, hatcher tops, and rooms are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized to support low to zero bacteria and mold levels. By carefully resetting hatcher racks after cleanup, you help keep operations running smoothly and ready for the next cycle. This hands-on role makes a direct impact every day, supporting high standards of quality, safety, and operational excellence.

This position is located at the Westover hatchery.

This position has a base rate of $19.24 per hour, with opportunities for pay premiums, shift differentials and overtime where applicable. Annual bonus available (variable depending on performance).

Schedule

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 5:00am-3:00pm

Minimum Education and Experience
  • High school or equivalent.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Reading and writing skills.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors
  • Exposed to temperatures ranging from 60 to 105 degrees Fahrenheit and humidities up to 100%.
  • Exposed to chemicals, drups and vaccines to be covered in MSDS training and hazardous communications.
  • Use personal protective equipment as required.
  • Ability to lift 4 lbs. to a height of 6 feet, to push 75 lbs. a distance of 75 feet and lift 20 - 25 lbs. to a height of 3 feet.
  • Must be able to work in a wet, damp, dusty (chick down) environment.
