Job summary

Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. seeks a Hatchery Production Hourly team member responsible for maintaining incubator conditions, performing egg/hatchling checks, and enforcing biosecurity measures.

You will assist in handling eggs and chicks, document observations, and help with training and safety responsibilities. The role requires ability to work in a fast-paced hatchery environment, high-temperature conditions, and availability for varied shifts including nights, holidays, and weekends.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Basic understanding of animal and husbandry practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in a hatchery or agricultural environment recommended.
• Knowledge of avian care and biosecurity practices.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain incubator conditions (temperature, humidity, airflow).
• Perform routine checks on eggs and hatchlings for health and development.
• Implement biosecurity measures to prevent contamination and disease.
• Assist in handling and transporting eggs and hatchlings with care.
• Document observations on hatchling rates and environmental conditions.
• Set up, dismantle, and sanitize equipment daily.
• Collaborate to maintain cleanliness and organization in the hatchery.
• Fill in for absent staff, train others, and address safety concerns.
• Participate in egg set, chick processing, and cross training; work varied shifts.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and maintain optimal conditions for incubators, including temperature, humidity and airflow.
• Perform routine checks on eggs and hatchlings to assess health and development.
• Implement biosecurity measures to prevent contamination and disease spread within the hatchery.
• Assist in the handling and transportation off eggs and hatchlings, ensuring proper care and minimal stress.
• Document and report observations related to hatchlings rates, health issues and environmental conditions.
• Perform daily setup, dismantling, and sanitization of equipment to maintain operational readiness and cleanliness.
• Collaborate with team members to maintain cleanliness and organization within the Hatchery.
• Fill in for absent team members, guide and train staff, assist with safety monitoring, and lead in addressing questions or concerns.
• Participate in egg set, chick processing, cross training, and training guide development; work varied shifts, including nights, holidays, and weekends.
• Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need:

• Education:
  • High School Diploma/GED preferred.
  • Basic understanding of animal and husbandry practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast- paced environment.
• Experience:
  • Experience in a hatchery or similar agricultural environment.
  • Knowledge of avian species and their care requirements.
  • Familiarity with biosecurity protocols and practices.
  • 1 or more years of production or manufacturing environment. Poultry or food industry experience is a plus.
• Skills:
  • Proficiency in using temperature and humidity monitoring equipment.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
  • Strong to detail and ability to follow protocols accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to adapt to changing condition and work under pressure
  • A proactive attitude and a commitment to quality and safety.
  • Effective communication both orally and in writing, ability to work with minimal supervision
• Physical requirements:
  • Work in high-temperature environments (100+°F), tolerate odors, and handle repetitive lifting/pushing of 50 lbs or more with continuous physical activity.
• Must not raise any poultry or birds
