Job summary

Case Farms' Goldsboro Hatchery in Goldsboro, NC is seeking workers for vaccine handling and hatchery operations. Qualifications

  • Able to lift 30 lbs frequently and 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Must maintain stamina for long shifts and work independently.
  • Highly self-motivated and able to follow procedures and meet standards unsupervised.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to use sound judgment to solve problems and make safe decisions independently.
  • Ability to read and interpret labels on hatchery chemicals, supplies, and vaccines.

Responsibilities

  • Be able to use syringes and needles correctly to mix vaccine.
  • Open, set-up, and clean-up vaccine stations as well as vaccine room
  • Assist in counting and recording data for chick boxes and averages.
  • Count cull birds and record numbers.
  • Record the number of chicks hatched per flock and calculate daily percentages.
  • Predict number of chicks hatched and averages to prepare paperwork for next day.
  • Send recorded information to Grow-out for their records.
  • Perform duties of First shift processing, Box Room operator, Wash Room Operator, and clean all processing equipment.

Description

Essential Job Functions

  • Be able to use syringes and needles correctly to mix vaccine.
  • Open, set-up, and clean-up vaccine stations as well as vaccine room
  • Assist in counting and recording data for chick boxes for accuracy and figuring averages to add back into houses.
  • Counting cull birds and recording numbers.
  • Recording the number of chicks hatched per flock and figure and record the percentage of each flock as well as daily total
  • Predict number of chicks hatched and averages to prepare paperwork to run the next day.
  • Send recorded information to Grow-out for their records.
  • Able to perform all duties associated with First shift processing, Box Room operator, Wash Room Operator, and be able to clean all processing equipment.

Physical Requirements

1. Must be able to stand for 8 hours

2. Must be able to lift 50lbs

Additional Job Functions

  • May perform portions of the work of higher classified positions occasionally, as assigned.
  • Specific duties may change as demanded by business, see Hatchery manager for adjusted duties.

  • Ability to use sound judgment to solve problems and to make safe decisions independently.
  • Ability to read and interpret labels on Hatchery chemicals, supplies, and vaccines.
