Position Overview
Assist teachers with a variety of instructional clerical, student management, and daily life activities for special education students in special education or general classrooms.
Work Schedule & Hours
- School year
- Shifts typically occur within the hours of 7:15 am to 3:30 pm. Exact start and end times may vary based on the needs of the school and the number of hours allocated for the position.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Preferred: Previous experience working with students with special needs.
- Strong tutorial skills and ability to relate well with students, staff, and parents.
- Strong desire to see young people succeed, positive attitude, ability to complete tasks independently.
- Strong office computer, oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of child guidance principles, basic instructional methods and techniques.
- Willingness to supervise students in community settings.
- Participation in training provided by the Special Education Department.
Preferred Qualifications for Highly‑Qualified Candidates
- Two years of college experience from an accredited college, or a two-year college degree.
- Passed the Para‑Pro Assessment.
- One year or 1,000 hours of previous employment in a school or working with children.
- Passed annual school-level evaluations.
- Completed 48 credit hours of college‑level classes from an accredited college.
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credentials.
