Job summary

H-E-B in Texas is seeking a Meat Cutter to maintain a well-stocked department and provide superior customer service. You will cut, trim, bone, and package fresh meat for display while upholding all food safety standards and department SOPs.

You will operate grinders and slicers, rotate stock, assist customers, and keep equipment clean. The role requires 1+ year of related experience and completion of meat cutter training within 3 months. Lift up to 60 lbs; work in a fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

• 18+ years old and eligible to work in the U.S.
• 1+ year of related meat-cutting experience or training.
• Knowledge of product rotation and department sanitation.
• Familiar with MS Outlook and basic computer use.

Responsibilities

• Cuts, trims, bones meat for display or as ordered by Customer, according to company standards.
• Operates electric grinder, saw, knife sharpener, tenderizer, slicer.
• Weights, wraps, labels product packages for counter display and rotates product as needed.
• Maintains proper storage and rotates stock in meat cooler.
• Assists customers with product questions and selections.
• Uses Telxon to scan items for production and track re-works.
• Cleans and sanitizes display cases and equipment in line with standards.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

As a Meat Cutter, you'll help provide a well-stocked and well-maintained department while providing superior customer service. You'll prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product on a daily basis, while maintaining all department and food safety / sanitation standards.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions

• Cuts, trims, bones meat for display or as ordered by Customer, according to company standards
• Operates electric grinder, saw, knife sharpener, tenderizer, slicer
• Weighs / wraps / labels product packages for counter display; rotates product as needed
• Rotates product in meat cooler; ensures proper storage practices
• Uses MCS technology to generate production list and track "re-works"
• Assists customers with product questions
• Scans in items on Telxon for production
• Assists in technical areas as needed

Food Safety / Sanitation

• Cleans and sanitizes display cases; properly operates / maintains equipment
• Complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
• Complies with department SOPs, Store operating procedures, and federal / state fresh meat regulations

Customer Service

• Provides superior customer service
• Answers customer questions regarding products and assists them with selections

• Working knowledge of product rotation, department / Store sanitation, shrink awareness, MS Outlook (Word, Excel)
• Meat-cutting skills (saw, grinder)
• Customer service and communication skills

Licenses/Certifications

• Completion of power jack training
• Completion of Meat Cutter learning plan and certification by trainer of the Meat Cutter Final Assessment course #001289
• Must have completed the meat cutter training and certification within 3 months external

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

• Function in a fast-paced, retail environment, in detailed and precise tasks
• Work with Customers, staying attentive to their needs
• Lift and carry moderately heavy loads (40 - 60 lbs)
• Frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, pivot, push / pull with arms, grasp
• Frequently be exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme cold, and high-tech chemicals
• Occasionally be exposed to wet and / or humid conditions
