Job summary

New Jersey Harm Reduction Coalition (NJHRC) operates a Middlesex County Harm Reduction Center in New Brunswick, NJ. The Harm Reduction Specialist will support both mobile outreach and on-site syringe access services, flexing between roles as needed.

The role emphasizes engaging with people who use drugs, delivering harm reduction supplies, responding to overdoses, data entry, and collaboration with staff to advance health equity and dignity.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver license and ability to drive agency vehicles.
• Personal experience with drug use or harm reduction is required.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience and comfort responding to overdoses in community settings.
• Commitment to harm reduction, health equity, and dignity for people who use drugs.

Responsibilities

• Support all service lines across mobile outreach and on-site services.
• Attend program meetings and contribute to outreach planning.
• Facilitate syringe exchanges and harm reduction counseling with community members.
• Organize outreach supplies and stock mobile and on-site areas.
• Drive the mobile van and assist with delivery and kiosks as needed.
• Respond to overdoses or critical incidents during shifts.
• Collect and enter data to support program outcomes.
