AV in Albuquerque, NM is seeking an experienced test automation technician to construct and maintain automated test systems for space flight hardware. You will work with electrical and opto-mechanical test rigs, build harnesses, calibrate equipment, and interface with diverse flight hardware during integration and test.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with electrical test gear (oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, data acquisition), builds reliable systems, follows ESD and lab safety

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical test equipment including oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, and data acquisition systems.
  • Proven ability to perform electrical testing at board, module, and system levels.
  • Demonstrated experience fabricating cable and harness assemblies.
  • Proficient with hand tools, soldering equipment, and lab instruments.
  • Familiarity with engineering documentation tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in building and validating complex test systems.
  • Knowledge of ESD protocols and laboratory safety procedures.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

AV is seeking an experienced test automation technician for multiple programs within the Space Technologies division. The Space Technologies division falls under the SpDE sector. The Space Technologies division has been developing the techniques, systems, subsystems, and design elements required to implement high reliability opto-mechanical and electrical systems.

Summary

AV is seeking an experienced test automation technician for multiple programs within the Space Technologies division. The Space Technologies division falls under the SpDE sector. The Space Technologies division has been developing the techniques, systems, subsystems, and design elements required to implement high reliability opto-mechanical and electrical systems. In this role, you will be constructing and maintaining automated test systems for evaluation of space flight hardware. These tests systems will interface with a diverse set of electrical and opto-mechanical flight hardware throughout the integration and test phase of production. The ideal candidate brings hands-on expertise in building and testing electrical systems, configuring and operating test instruments, constructing harnesses and cabling, assembling test racks, and maintaining automation infrastructure.

Position Responsibilities
  • Construct new test systems using engineering drawings, program documentation, and test engineering input.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical test equipment including oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, and data acquisition systems.
  • Proven ability to perform electrical testing at board, module, and system levels.
  • Demonstrated experience fabricating cable and harness assemblies.
  • Proficient with hand tools, soldering equipment, and lab instruments.
  • Familiarity with engineering documentation tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in building and validating complex test systems.

Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies
  • Active or previous certification in IPC-610, IPC-620, or IPC J-STD.
  • Experience handling and testing space hardware.
  • Knowledge of clean room practices and procedures.
  • Experience working under ISO or AS9100 or similar quality management systems.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software and engineering PDM systems.
  • Familiarity with GitLab or other software development platforms.
  • Able to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, where small teams share a broad variety of duties
  • Displays strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals and meet company objectives
  • Takes ownership and responsibility for current and past work products

Physical Demands
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to frequently use hand tools (e.g. clamps) using light, minimal force

The Salary Range For This Role Is

$25 - $38. AeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
