Job description

About the Team

DoorDash Labs is an independent team within DoorDash. We explore robotics and automation to transform last-mile logistics over the long term. If you have a passion for applying robotics solutions to a service used by millions of people, we want to talk to you.

About the Role

We are hiring a Hardware Systems Integration Engineer for our Platform Integration team. In this role, you will own the bring-up, integration, and validation of complex robotic hardware systems, ensuring electrical, mechanical, firmware, and subsystems operate reliably as one cohesive platform.

You will work hands‑on with sensors, compute, power systems, harnesses, embedded controllers, drive systems, and thermal devices. You will define subsystem interfaces, build test setups, debug hardware/software integration issues, and verify platform readiness before validation, manufacturing, or mission use. You will report to the Autonomy Platform Lead on our Autonomy Platform Team at DoorDash Labs. We expect this role to be fully onsite.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…
  • Play an integral role on a small, focused team building robotic platforms from prototype through deployment readiness.
  • Support early integration of new hardware subsystem designs by defining electrical, mechanical, firmware interface requirements, integration risks, dependencies, and hardware validation checks.
  • Integrate and debug hardware interfaces across vehicle controls, power distribution, motion control, sensor systems, embedded platforms, and communication buses.
  • Develop physical test setups, bench rigs, diagnostic workflows, and wiring harnesses to exercise integrated robot subsystems.
  • Use lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, power supplies, and bus diagnostic tools to root‑cause electrical, timing, signal integrity, and communication issues.
  • Develop and execute validation procedures to stress‑test integrated systems, including battery, drivetrain, thermal, sensor, and embedded controller subsystems.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify edge cases and integration issues that impact platform safety, performance, and functionality.
  • Document integration procedures, test results, known issues, and platform readiness for downstream validation and manufacturing teams.
We’re excited about you because…
  • You have a BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • You have 5+ years of experience in hardware systems integration, vehicle bring‑up, hardware validation, or complex mechatronics systems.
  • You have hands‑on experience debugging electrical, communication, signal integrity, timing, or power issues.
  • You can read schematics, wiring diagrams, interface specifications, board documentation, and mechanical drawings.
  • You are comfortable using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, digital multimeters, power supplies, CAN tools, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • You can troubleshoot digital electronics, embedded peripherals, and hardware interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, Ethernet, USB, and GPIO.
  • You can use Python, Linux shell scripts, Git, logs, and diagnostic tools to run tests, automate workflows, and analyze results.
  • Bonus: Experience taking robotic or electromechanical hardware through prototype bring‑up, validation, manufacturing test, reliability testing, or field failure analysis.
