Job summary

Hark is seeking a Hardware Engineer to own the end-to-end power architecture for next-generation portable devices in San Jose. You will ensure safety, efficiency, and long life by selecting battery chemistries, tuning PMICs, and building detailed power models.

You will design the PDN, validate Li-ion/Li-poly cells, and develop models for idle and peak usage. You will also implement charging circuits and meet global safety and EMI/EMC requirements.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Hands-on PMIC integration experience across major vendors.
  • Deep understanding of Battery Management Systems (BMS), including SoC estimation.
  • Experience with power measurement tools (power analyzers, electronic loads, current sense).
  • Strong PDN design skills and PCB power integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Define PDN and select key power components (PMICs, chargers, fuel gauges).
  • Lead safety validation of Li-ion/Li-poly cells.
  • Develop power models predicting battery life across idle, peak load, and standby.
  • Design wired USB-C PD and/or wireless charging circuits with thermal stability.
  • Conduct bench-level efficiency measurements for DC-DC converters and optimize firmware.
  • Develop power management strategy to prevent system brownouts.
  • Ensure designs meet UL, IEC, UN38.3 and EMI/EMC standards.
