Job summary

Safe Fleet is seeking a hardware engineer to manage the full lifecycle of new and current products—from design and prototyping to production deployment. You will also design local programs to support production processing and quality control systems.

The role requires hands-on hardware design with CANBus/Serial expertise, extensive testing, and strong documentation skills. Travel 10-20% is expected, and FCC/CE/regulatory awareness is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven hardware design experience with demonstrable products.
  • Familiarity with Python or C# for desktop application development.
  • Strong embedded programming skills in C/C++ or similar low-level languages.
  • Hands-on experience with CANBus and Serial (RS-232/RS-485/UART) communication protocols.
  • Practical electronics knowledge: reading schematics, using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers, debugging hardware issues.
  • Production environment experience: understanding design-for-manufacturing principles.

Responsibilities

  • Hardware development: design, prototype, and test solutions for TireViewLIVE and TST lines.
  • Complete knowledge of CANBus and Serial communication protocols.
  • Testing and validation: design and execute hardware testing from bench to environmental tests.
  • Documentation: maintain technical docs for hardware designs, interfaces, and procedures.
  • Troubleshooting: debug issues spanning hardware, firmware, and software.

Responsible for the full lifecycle of new/current hardware products. From initial design and prototyping through production deployment. Will also design and implement local programs to help with our production processing and quality control systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hardware Development: Design, prototype, and test custom hardware solutions for our TireViewLIVE and TST product lines, including circuit design, component selection, and PCB layout collaboration.
  • Complete knowledge of CANBus and Serial communication protocols
  • Testing & Validation: Design and execute comprehensive hardware testing procedures, from bench testing to environmental (Real-World) testing.
  • Documentation: Maintain technical documentation for hardware designs, software interfaces, and production procedures.
  • Troubleshooting: Debug complex issues that span hardware, firmware, and software issues.

Travel: 10-20%
