Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
  • 5+ years of Electrical/Hardware Engineering experience with hardware debugging
  • Proven leadership or mentoring experience within hardware teams
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and design documentation

We are seeking a Lead Hardware Engineer to support the design, development, and troubleshooting of complex hardware systems. This role will play a key part in developing system-level hardware architectures, resolving hardware and PCB issues, and providing technical leadership to a team of engineers throughout the product development lifecycle.

We are seeking a Lead Hardware Engineer to support the design, development, and troubleshooting of complex hardware systems. This role will play a key part in developing system-level hardware architectures, resolving hardware and PCB issues, and providing technical leadership to a team of engineers throughout the product development lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and support hardware systems from concept through implementation.
  • Create and maintain hardware architectures and system-level design documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware-related issues, including PCB-level debugging and root cause analysis.
  • Lead and mentor a team of hardware engineers, providing technical guidance and support.
  • Review hardware designs, schematics, and technical documentation to ensure quality and compliance with project requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to develop and integrate hardware solutions.
  • Support hardware testing, validation, and verification activities.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide recommendations for continuous product improvement.
  • Assist with project planning, task prioritization, and technical decision-making.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables are completed on schedule and meet performance and quality expectations.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering, or Electronic Design.
  • Proven experience designing and troubleshooting hardware systems.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot and debug PCB assemblies and electronic circuits.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or coordinating the work of hardware engineering teams.
  • Ability to develop hardware architectures and system-level hardware solutions.
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, and design documentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with PCB design and schematic capture tools.
  • Experience supporting products through development, testing, and production.
  • Exposure to embedded hardware, controls, industrial automation, transportation, aerospace, defense, or other electronics-based industries.
  • Familiarity with hardware validation and verification processes.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and decision-making skills.
Work Environment

The role operates in a hybrid work environment, with a schedule that typically includes two days in the office and three days working remotely each week. Work involves collaboration with engineering teams, subcontractors, and test personnel, as well as hands-on activities in lab settings and occasional field environments for hardware and system integration testing.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pittsburgh, PA.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $72.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
