Job summary

Qualifications

• Proven experience in maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) with strong electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, and HVAC repair background.
• Mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience using hand tools and electrical repair techniques.
• Ability to read blueprints or schematics related to building interior systems and electrical wiring.
• Experience with maintenance painting and general building upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and maintenance of building interior systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, facilities equipment).

100+ unit luxury building in Brooklyn New York: looking for a HANDYMAN with experience doing maintenance and repairs withing rental units and common areas of the buildings.

Helping tenants as needed.

Duties

• Perform routine inspections and maintenance of building interior systems, including HVAC units, electrical equipment, plumbing systems, and facilities equipment to ensure smooth operation.
• Conduct repairs using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and schematics to address issues promptly and efficiently.
• Maintain HVAC systems by troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing components as needed to ensure optimal climate control.
• Execute plumbing repairs and maintenance on plumbing systems, including leak repairs, pipe replacements, and fixture servicing.
• Carry out painting projects—residential painting and maintenance painting to uphold the visual standards of the facility.
• Utilize programmable logic controllers (PLCs), ohmmeters, schematics, and electrical knowledge to diagnose electrical issues accurately.
• Support building interior maintenance tasks such as carpentry repairs, drywall patching, door adjustments, and flooring fixes.
• Assist with facilities maintenance operations by managing maintenance painting projects and ensuring all facilities equipment is functioning correctly.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff or management with professionalism and customer service excellence.
• Lead small repair projects when necessary and coordinate with vendors or contractors for specialized work like HVAC system repair or welding tasks.

Requirements

• Proven experience in maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO), with a strong background in electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, welding, and HVAC system repair.
• Mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience using hand tools and electrical equipment repair techniques.
• Ability to read blueprints or schematics related to building interior systems and electrical wiring.
• Demonstrated ability to perform maintenance painting—both residential style and facility-specific projects—and general building upkeep.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems including troubleshooting refrigerant issues or system malfunctions is advantageous.
