Job summary

Atlas Van Lines is offering a Trailer Service Technician Intern position at Atlas Terminal Team in Evansville, IN. This hands-on internship provides exposure to inspections, maintenance, welding basics, and equipment installations for trailers, box trucks, and fleet assets.

You will learn through experienced technicians, focusing on safety, quality work, and practical shop skills while developing professional workplace capabilities in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• 18+ years old and enrolled in a high school work-to-school/vocational/technical program.
• Interest in automotive repair, diesel technology, welding, manufacturing, transportation, or skilled trades.
• Previous shop, automotive, agricultural, welding, or technical coursework preferred but not required.
• Willingness to learn new skills and take direction from experienced team members.
• Ability to safely use hand tools and equipment after training.
• Strong attendance, reliability, and work ethic.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
• Effective communication skills and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
• Assist technicians with inspections, maintenance, and repairs on trailers, box trucks, and fleet equipment.
• Help prepare vehicles and trailers for painting and vinyl installation through cleaning, sanding, masking, and finishing activities.
• Assist with trailer and truck equipment installations, such as liftgates, storage systems, and other accessories.
• Learn basic welding, fabrication, body repair, and mechanical repair techniques under supervision.
• Perform routine shop tasks, including organizing tools, maintaining equipment, and keeping work areas clean.
• Support parts inventory activities by helping locate, organize, and stage parts for repair projects.
• Participate in quality inspections to ensure completed work meets company standards.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding assigned projects.
• Complete additional shop and maintenance projects as assigned.
