Job summary

York Space Systems is seeking an Electrical Power Systems Engineer who will design, integrate, test, and operate electrical power systems for space vehicles, gaining hands-on experience with spacecraft power electronics.

You will join a fast-moving engineering team and contribute to flight-critical systems, with on-site work at the Greenwood Village, CO office. This role suits an early-career engineer eager to grow toward senior ownership while solving meaningful technical challenges.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
• Foundational knowledge of DC power systems.
• Coursework or project experience with DC conversion or distribution.
• Ability to analyze transient behavior, fault response, stability, and efficiency in power systems.
• Experience supporting hardware through design, integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to interpret schematics and electrical documentation.
• Strong problem-solving ability with incomplete or evolving technical information.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work across engineering disciplines.
• Willingness to work hands-on with hardware.
• Willingness to work full-time in Greenwood Village, CO office; no remote or hybrid work.

Responsibilities

• Support design, integration, and verification of spacecraft electrical power systems.
• Contribute to analysis and design of power generation, storage, conversion, distribution, protection, and load management.
• Help define hardware requirements at component or system level.
• Assist in developing electrical interfaces between solar arrays, batteries, avionics, heaters, propulsion, and payloads.
• Evaluate converters, switches, SSPCs, relays, magnetics, and capacitors.
• Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to resolve design, manufacturing, qualification, and test issues.
• Review schematics, analyses, test plans, and data with mentorship from senior staff.
• Participate in hardware bring‑up, environmental testing, vehicle integration, and occasional launch support.
• Identify technical risks and work with senior engineers to close them via analysis, testing, or design updates.
