Job summary

Crary Industries is seeking an R&D Technician for our West Fargo location to join engineers and team members in building, testing, troubleshooting, and improving products and processes on the production floor.

The role emphasizes diagnosing mechanical failures, fabrication, testing, and collaboration across manufacturing lines. Candidates should have experience with welding, heavy equipment, blueprint reading, and prototyping in a hands-on environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate heavy equipment such as tractors, forklifts, etc.
• Experience with welding
• Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
• Experience using large power tools
• Experience with use of overhead cranes
• Interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to fabricate proto-type parts and machines
• Enhanced attention to details
• Able to organize and work independently
• Able to comply with all company rules and regulations
• Able to stand on hard surface for periods up to 3 hours in duration
• Able to analyze and plan
• Able to, unassisted, lift 50-pound weight from the floor and carry it 50 feet
• Able to stoop, bend and reach to full height

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing mechanical failures and performing fabrication/repairs per blueprints, models and instructions
• Use hand tools, power tools, and other instruments to complete mechanical tasks
• Evaluate reparability and test equipment after reassembly to ensure proper function
• Execute testing and data collection
• Keep shop area and test area clean and organized
• Build prototype disposables, fixtures, equipment, sub-systems
• Develop test methods for new tests
• Training with/working with production
• Understand the use of testing equipment for component and system testing
• Operate heavy equipment as required
