Job summary

ABEC seeks a Manufacturing Team Leader to guide a shift, drive safety, quality, and on-time delivery. You will mentor team members, plan daily work, and support continuous improvement initiatives while hands-on with assembly and fabrication of mechanical components.

The role requires strong leadership, communication, and the ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams in a growing biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment. On-site position in Missouri.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years direct leadership experience in manufacturing.
• Ability to read tape measure and perform simple math.
• Proficient with hand tools and basic fabrication tools.
• Production planning and scheduling capability/experience.
• Self-directed and results-oriented.
• Self-disciplined with minimal oversight.
• Leads by example and sets clear performance expectations.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer literate and able to use shop floor data systems.
• Able to read technical drawings (Blueprints, P&ID’s, Electrical Schematics).
• Able to lift at least 50 lbs (23 kg).
• Stand/Walk for long periods; manual labor may be required.
• CI/Lean experience a plus; Six Sigma or Lean preferred.
• Exposure to loud environments; PPE required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates with Shift Supervisor/Manager to set daily shift goals.
• Plan project activity for the shift and assign tasks.
• Participate in assembly and fabrication of mechanical parts to spec.
• Maintain high attention to detail and accuracy in manufacturing.
• Use hand tools and fabricating equipment as required.
• Oversee safety, quality, and productivity during the shift.
• Provide real-time guidance to address issues.
• Address behavioral issues conflicting with policy.
• Report needs and scheduling issues to ensure resources.
• Promote team communication for shared goals.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and other Team Leads.
• Attend team leader/shop floor meetings and design reviews.
• Support training and onboarding of new hires.
• Review PTO requests and coordinate with payroll.
• Support CI and Lean manufacturing improvements.
