Job summary

Aalo Atomics in Austin, Texas is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to own producibility of subassemblies, work with welders and machinists, and develop repeatable build processes. You will coordinate with vendors, support metrology, and help drive hands-on fabrication of complex hardware for nuclear fuel handling systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent hands-on manufacturing/technician experience.
• 1–3 years in manufacturing engineering, fabrication, or shop.
• Hands-on skills in welding, machining, sheet metal, assembly, or inspection.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, GD&T callouts, and weld symbols.
• Strong ownership mindset and willingness to learn-by-doing.
• Comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-iterating environment.

Responsibilities

• Own producibility of subassemblies including welded structures and machined parts.
• Work with welders, machinists, and technicians on the factory floor.
• Develop work instructions, fixtures, and tooling for repeatable builds.
• Support dimensional inspection and metrology for critical features.
• Coordinate with outside vendors for sourced parts.
• Build, modify, and rework testrigs and prototype hardware on tight timelines.
• Diagnose fabrication issues hands-on at the bench.
• Maintain records of as-built configurations and inspection results.
• Support on-site installation and commissioning at reactor facility in Idaho with travel.
