Job summary

St. Joseph County ISD CTE in Centreville, MI seeks a CTE Engineering/Manufacturing/Machine Tool Teacher Assistant to support the Machine Tool Technology program and engage students in hands-on learning. The role emphasizes safety, practical skills, and alignment with industry standards.

The position involves assisting with demonstrations, operating in a combined classroom and shop setting, and supporting career exploration activities for middle school students.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification preferred.
• Experience in machining, CNC operations, manufacturing, tool & die, or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of machine shop equipment, blueprint reading, precision measurement, and shop safety.
• Ability to work effectively with high school students and demonstrate strong communication.
• Experience operating manual mills, lathes, CNC equipment, surface grinders, and precision measuring equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher with classroom, laboratory, and shop instruction.
• Reinforce lessons in manual machining, CNC machining, blueprint reading, and precision measurement.
• Provide one-on-one and small-group instructional support to students.
• Support differentiated instruction to meet diverse student learning needs.
• Assist with demonstrations during mobile Career Exploration trailer events.
• Help present engineering, machining, and manufacturing concepts to middle school students.
