Job summary

Columbia State Community College seeks a Machine Repair Instructor to deliver daily classroom and lab instruction for a registered apprenticeship program. You will teach a wide range of topics from algebra and blueprint reading to hydraulics and CNC machining, aligned with an RTI curriculum and supported by engaged faculty.

The role focuses on hands-on and theory-based learning, maintaining safety standards and collaborating with college staff to support the workforce pipeline and manufacturing

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related technical field.
• Ability to effectively teach technical concepts in classroom and lab.
• Strong foundational knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and industrial systems.
• 3+ years of industry experience in manufacturing, industrial maintenance, automation, or related field.
• Industry certifications such as OSHA, NCCER, welding, machining, or OEM certifications.
• Experience with AMATROL training systems or similar equipment.
• Familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems troubleshooting, and applied math in an industrial context.

Responsibilities

• Deliver daily instructor-led training (classroom and lab) to cohorts of ~10 apprentices.
• Teach a broad machine repair curriculum including mathematics, blueprint reading, CAD fundamentals, safety, and systems.
• Facilitate both lecture-based instruction and hands-on lab activities with 100% classroom to 50/50 split depending on topic.
• Use provided curriculum and materials to deliver consistent instruction.
• Support student learning through demonstrations, troubleshooting, and assessment of progress.
• Maintain safe learning environment aligned with OSHA and institutional standards.
• Collaborate with faculty to ensure alignment with academic and industry expectations.
• Maintain training equipment, lab organization, and instructional materials.
