Job summary

Lambda Inc. is seeking a hands-on Hardware Engineering Lead to own NPI for HPC and cloud infrastructure. You will drive system bring-up, vendor engagement, and cross-functional hardware readiness to production.

This role requires leadership in labs, BOM review, PLM usage, and collaboration with design, supply chain, and fleet teams to scale gigawatt-scale AI hardware in our San Jose office four days a week.

Qualifications

• 5 years of technical lead experience on hardware NPI and deployment for HPC, data center, or cloud infrastructure products.
• Deep knowledge of hardware platforms: AI/ML, general compute (x86/ARM), storage, or network switches.
• Broad hardware engineering domain knowledge: electrical, thermal, mechanical, power, signal integrity, safety, reliability.
• Hands-on lab work to enable and bring up new hardware systems.
• Experience in identifying, triaging, and root-cause analysis during NPI and fleet scale.
• Experience with PLM systems and BOM structures.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver production-ready hardware solutions.

Responsibilities

• Serve as hands-on technical lead for integrating OEM and white-label HPC hardware into Lambda’s reference architectures.
• Drive end-to-end NPI for hardware systems, including bring-up, documentation, vendor engagement, production readiness, and risk closure.
• Identify and resolve hardware issues across domains during NPI; support closure of fleet issues requiring design changes.
• Partner with HPC architects to translate platform blueprints into hardware selections and configurations.
• Collaborate with supply chain on vendor evaluation and feedback on established vendors.
• Own hardware platform through NPI and de-risk execution with PMO to production.
• Collaborate with quality and fleet reliability teams to improve product quality at scale.
• Work cross-functionally with fleet engineering, deployment, operation and datacenter teams for on-time delivery and scalability.
• Lead evaluation and prototyping of new hardware in labs.
• Review BOMs for configuration accuracy and component alignment with Lambda requirements.
