Job summary
Designer Brands, supporting the Jessica Simpson brand in a hybrid Midtown Manhattan role, seeks a seasoned handbag designer. You will translate seasonal direction into compelling concepts, develop CADs and tech packs, and partner with Design, Development, Production, and Sales to meet pricing and quality targets.
Ideal candidates have 5+ years in handbag design, proficiency with Illustrator/Photoshop, and a bachelor’s in Handbag Design.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of handbag design experience
- Experience creating technical drawings, tech packs, CADs, and merchandising boards
- Experience managing multiple design projects through full product lifecycle
Responsibilities
- Translate seasonal direction into innovative handbag designs that align with brand aesthetics and business objectives
- Develop sketches, CADs, digital renderings, technical drawings, and documentation
- Create and maintain tech packs, product specs, and development documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Design, Development, Production, and Sales
- Review prototypes and samples; update specs to reflect changes
- Coach and support junior designers when applicable
