Job description

We are growing and seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Circuit Board Hand Solderer to join our manufacturing team!

The ideal candidate will be responsible for precisely assembling and soldering electronic components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs) to meet quality standards for our high-tech products. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and a steady hand to ensure every connection is strong and reliable.

Opening on 2nd Shift!

  • Monday - Thursday (4pm to 2:30am)

The Hand Solder role is unique for individuals who like to use precision hand tools and soldering components like surface mount and through-hole.

Job Summary & Essential Functions

Build through-hole (PTH) and surface mount (SMT) printed circuit board assemblies, placing components on boards per controlled parts lists, drawing documentation and quality workmanship guidelines.

  • Manually assemble electronic components onto printed circuit boards according to manufacturing instructions and schematics.
  • Precisely solder components, wires, and other parts to circuit boards, ensuring strong electrical and mechanical connections.
  • Conduct quality inspections of soldered boards for defects, such as bad joints, bridging, or component placement errors.
  • Perform minor rework and repairs on circuit boards as needed.
  • Pull up documentation required to perform work on customer assemblies.
  • Operate a variety of equipment as needed to fulfill customer requirements.
  • Responsible for the proper handling of product and components.
  • Perform work with minimal supervision and instruction.
  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in the work area.
  • Maintain necessary records.
  • Perform other assignments as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Proven experience in hand soldering electronic components onto circuit boards.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on quality.
  • Knowledge of electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions.
  • Proficiency with soldering irons and other hand soldering tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing instructions, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Familiarity with electronic components (capacitors, resistors, transistors, etc.) and their proper handling.
  • Experience with different types of solder and flux.
  • Intermediate level computer skills.
  • IPC Certifications (e.g., IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001) are a plus.
Physical Demands

Physical abilities required include lifting, carrying, standing, walking, sitting, climbing, crawling, squatting or kneeling, bending, pushing, pulling, fine manipulation, reaching outward, and reaching above shoulder. The job may involve handling 10 to 20 lbs continuously or occasionally, and occasionally 21 to 50 lbs. Hazardous waste handling requires proper safety measures. The description of frequency and activities is detailed in the attached guidelines.

Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications
  • HS Diploma or GED.
Licenses, Certifications, etc.

Must be able to successfully pass IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 certifications.

Work Environment and Safety Equipment Required
  • Required to wear PPE as needed.
  • Moderate noise levels.
  • Exposure to light manufacturing.
