Capitol Region Education Council Foundation, Inc. is seeking a long-term substitute in the Visual Arts Department for a half-day program at the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts Half-Day.

The instructor will implement curriculum and deliver lessons in Ceramics and 3D Design for high school students with a range of skill levels. This 20-hour-per-week position runs from mid-October to February, with responsibilities including lesson planning, assessments, and portfolio documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching high school students of varying skill levels and modalities.
• Proficiency in ceramics, 3D design in sculpture, multimedia, and art history.
• Familiarity with instructional technology: Adobe Creative Suite, Lightroom, Google Classroom.
• Eligibility for CT Adjunct Arts Instructor Permit with required degree and 180 hours of experience with children.

Responsibilities

• Identify objectives, prepare lesson plans, and evaluate student performance.
• Maintain safe learning environment and organize classroom materials.
• Deliver instruction and foster growth across cognitive and social domains.
• Use diagnostics to inform student progress and share results with the department head.
• Interact with students, counselors, and the department head to ensure safety and progress.
• Maintain digital portfolios and records for mid-year and end-of-year reviews.
• Attend evening or department events as needed.
