Job summary

Affordable Language Services is seeking Haitian Creole interpreters to provide in-person interpreting services as independent contractors in the Greater Portland area. You will work across medical, educational, social, legal settings to assist communities and ensure access to services.

Applicants should be fluent in English and Haitian Creole, willing to pass a language test if needed, have US work authorization, and be able to attend in-person appointments.

Qualifications

• Must be fluent bilingual in English and Haitian Creole.
• Must have US I-9 work authorization.
• Must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Willing to provide background check and drug test.
• Willing to provide MMR, Varicella, Covid and Flu vaccination records if interested in medical interpreting.
• Willing to primarily attend in-person appointments.
• Professional training/experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting services as an independent contractor.
• Attend in-person appointments across medical, educational, social, legal settings.
• Help clients access services by bridging language gaps.

Lango is looking for fluent bilinguals to provide interpreting services as independent contractors! You can serve your community in various ways, such as by helping students in schools, or patients in hospitals. Professional language services are a great way to break down barriers and help multicultural communities get access to the services they deserve!

Requirements

• Must be fluently bilingual in English and at Haitian Creole.
