Job summary

The Madison Club in La Quinta, CA seeks a Hairstylist with a keen eye for design and member-centric service to consult on hairstyles, perform treatments, and promote hair care products. You will welcome clients, manage bookings, and maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness in a luxury spa setting.

Ideal candidates have CA Cosmetology licensure and 2–3 years in a luxury salon or resort. Flexible hours including weekends and holidays are required, with a base hourly rate of $17 plus

Responsibilities

• Consult with clients on desired hairstyles and services.
• Shampoo, cut, color, and highlight hair.
• Describe and promote hair care products and retail items.
• Perform scalp treatments and other salon services.
• Manage bookings and client intake; enter transactions in POS.
• Build long-term relationships to encourage repeat visits.

Job description

The Hairstylist will have an eye for design and listening to members requests, consulting on hair styling options, describing the benefits of different hair care products, encouraging members to buy retail products, and staying updated on the latest hair trends and styling methods. Additionally, the Hairstylist will possess exceptional interpersonal and conversational skills to form relationships and retain long-term customers. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcoming clients and consulting with them on their desired hairstyles.
• Listening to clients' needs to determine their preferences.
• Describing different hair care products and their benefits.
• Shampooing, cutting, coloring, and highlighting hair.
• Offering manicure, pedicure, waxing, and facial services.
• Performing scalp treatments.
• Acting as salespersons to sell clients hair care retail products.
• Managing bookings and welcoming clients into the store.
• Entering transactions into POS system and maintaining accurate records.
• Building a personal relationship with clients to ensure return visits.
• Adhering to OSHA and salon protocols and procedures for safety and cleanliness standards.
• Ensuring that combs, scissors, razors, and other instruments are cleaned and sanitized after each use.
• Keeping updated on hairstyle trends and styling methods.

Qualifications

• Current California Cosmetology License required.
• Minimum 2-3 years of professional salon experience preferred in a luxury salon, private club, resort, or Spa environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of haircutting, coloring, styling, and chemical services.
• Experience with Keratin Treatments and Hair Extensions a plus.
• Exceptional customer service and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent verbal communication and consultation abilities.
• Ability to educate Members on hair health, styling techniques, and home care.
• Comfortable recommending retail products and salon enhancements.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative Spa team.
• Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn Spa scheduling software.
• Flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Experience with: Precision Haircutting, Blowouts, Styling, Coloring, Highlights, Balayage, Gloss Toners, Deep Conditioning, Scalp Treatments, Forman Styling and Updos.

The Company's good faith estimate of the hourly rate it expects to pay for this role is $17.00 Plus Commission and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location.
