Mapjects.com seeks a senior software engineer with Hadoop development experience in the DC-Metro area to build out our big data practice. The role focuses on designing MapReduce jobs, building Hadoop libraries, and evaluating new tools in the Hadoop ecosystem.

You will work with Java, Hive, HBase, and HDFS to process large data sets and contribute to cluster upgrades and ongoing maintenance in a multi-node environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with Hadoop-based projects and distributed processing.
• Proficiency with HDFS, MapReduce, Hive and HBase is preferred.
• Strong Java development skills and familiarity with big data tools.

Responsabilités

• Design and implement MapReduce jobs for distributed processing in Java.
• Build libraries, UDFs, and frameworks around Hadoop ecosystem.
• Evaluate new Hadoop-related technologies and integrate them.
• Develop UDFs for HBase/Hive capabilities and support cluster upgrades.
• Assist in installing and administering Hadoop clusters (single/multi-node).

Job Description

Due to the amount of data that the applications need to process, the Mapjects.com clients engineering team has adopted big data technologies.

We are seeking a senior software engineer, with commercial Hadoop development experience, to work on the team that is building up the big data practice.

Job Description:

• Design and implement map reduce jobs to support distributed processing using java, hive and hbase
• Build libraries, user defined functions, and frameworks around Hadoop
• Research, evaluate and utilize new technologies/tools/frameworks around hadoop eco system such as MapReduce, HDFS, Hive, HBase, Flume, Mapjects Engine etc.
• Develop user defined functions to provide custom hbase/hive capabilities
• Work with Site-Operations team on upgrades of the cluster
• Participating in the installation, configuration and administration of a single-node and multi-node Hadoop HDFS cluster

Required Skills:

• Experience with Hadoop, including Hadoop based projects completed successfully.
• Experience with HDFS, MapReduce, HBase, Hive is preferred.
