Job summary

You will own and continuously improve the plant’s HACCP system for a high‑volume, USDA‑regulated food manufacturing operation. This role is highly visible on the production floor and partners daily with QA, Operations, Sanitation, and Maintenance to uphold food safety, regulatory compliance, and customer standards.

Qualifications

  • Certification in HACCP or ability to obtain within 90 days.
  • 2+ years of food manufacturing experience (USDA RTE preferred).
  • 1+ year working knowledge of GMPs, CCPs, Preventive Controls, sanitation, environmental monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, update, and verify HACCP plans, flow diagrams, hazard analyses, and prerequisite programs.
  • Lead daily CCP/PC verification, record review, corrective action validation, and trend analysis.
  • Serve as HACCP and USDA compliance expert during audits (FSIS, customer, and GFSI).
  • Conduct internal audits (HACCP, GMP, sanitation, allergen, environmental) and drive corrective actions.
  • Support USDA compliance: pre-op inspections, sanitation, and documentation accuracy.
  • Partner with production to ensure GMP adherence, hygienic zoning, and proper handling of RTE poultry.
  • Lead or support investigations for deviations, foreign material, or process failures.
  • Deliver training for HACCP, GMPs, allergen control, sanitation, and food safety culture.
  • Review and approve labels, formulations, and process changes for safety impact.
  • Support environmental monitoring: swabbing, trending, corrective actions.
  • Participate in equipment/process validation for thermal processing, cooling, and canning.

Role Summary

Required Experience & Skills
  • High School Diploma (degree a plus)
  • HACCP certification or ability to obtain within 90 days
  • 2+ years food manufacturing experience (USDA RTE protein preferred but not required)
  • 1+ year working knowledge of GMPs, CCPs, Preventive Controls, thermal processing, sanitation, environmental monitoring
  • Ability to interpret USDA/FSIS regulations and customer specifications
  • Strong documentation, organization, and communication skills
  • Comfortable in a fast‑paced, high‑volume plant environment
Preferred (Not Required)
  • Experience in USDA RTE canned meats or shelf‑stable protein
  • Exposure to SQF, BRC, or other GFSI schemes
  • Background in high‑care or high‑risk production environments
