Job summary

Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is seeking a Habitat Connectivity Biologist to serve as the technical lead for habitat connectivity mapping and planning in Washington state. You will translate science into practical tools and land-use guidance to protect wildlife movement and climate-resilient habitats.

The role emphasizes cross-agency collaboration, development of spatial data, technical documentation, and guidance for planning in urban and rural landscapes.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years as a Fish & Wildlife Biologist 3 or equivalent experience.
• Five (5) years of professional experience in fish/wildlife habitat management or research.
• Master’s or Ph.D. may substitute for portions of experience per policy.

Responsibilities

• Incorporate spatial data identifying priority habitat connectivity locations into the PHS framework.
• Identify appropriate existing spatial data for wildlife connectivity and barriers to movement.
• Provide technical assistance on applying habitat connectivity data to land use planning and management.
• Represent the agency in technical capacity to create new habitat connectivity data products.
• Participate in research activities, data collection, evaluation, and analysis.
