Job summary

UCP Central PA is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSP) in Camp Hill to deliver personalized 1:1 support, helping individuals participate fully in everyday life and community activities.

Positions include full-time and part-time schedules with varying daytime hours; a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required. Training, sign-on bonuses, and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• 6 months to 2 years of previous job-related experience required.
• Experience as Personal Care Aide, Caregiver, DSP, or Direct Care Worker preferred.
• Knowledge of individuals with IDD and/or autism.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to promote independence and daily living skills.
• Assist with community activities, appointments, and transportation.
• Teach and support daily living skills such as personal care, cooking, and housekeeping.
• Use effective communication to build trusting relationships and support social connections.
• Assist individuals in exploring employment interests and community activities.

Overview

Direct Support Professional (DSP)

• Current Open Schedules:
  • Fulltime 30+ - Varied hours between 9:00 am – 1:00 pm or 1:00 pm- 7:00 pm, occasional weekends as needed (3262)
  • Part-time <20- Three days per week; Varied hours between 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, occasional weekends as needed (3123)
• Location: Camp Hill
• Pay: $17.75 per hour
• Sign-on Bonus: $500 for Part-Time opportunities/ $1000 for Full-time 30+ opportunities

What We’re Looking For:

• Willingness to use personal vehicle for transporting individuals in the community
• 6 months to 2 years of previous job-related experience expected
• Previous Personal Care Aide, Caregiver, Direct Support Professional (DSP), or Direct Care Worker experience
• Knowledge of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or autism
• A valid driver’s license and 6 months driving experience
• Reliable transportation with valid insurance, registration, and inspection
• 18 years of age
• Ability to communicate, read, write, and understand the English language

As a DSP (Direct Support Professional) in Home and Community, you’ll offer individualized 1:1 support that promotes independence, builds daily living and social skills, and encourages active participation in everyday life, work, and the community.

What You’ll Do:

• Utilize your own reliable vehicle to support individuals during appointments, work, and community outings to promote full participation
• Support individuals in building independence and self-confidence by encouraging choice-making and everyday decision-making
• Staff assist participants in engaging in recreational, social, and life-enrichment activities such as volunteering, meal preparation, fitness activities, swimming, relationship building, and developing everyday life skills
• Assist in developing and carrying out individualized plans based on each person’s preferences, needs, and interests
• Teach and support daily living skills, including personal care, hygiene, cooking, and light housekeeping
• Use effective communication to build trusting relationships and support social and community connections
• Assist individuals in exploring employment interests and participating in work and community activities
