Job summary

Devereux is seeking a Habilitation Counselor to help individuals develop daily living, social, communication, and community integration skills toward greater independence. Job description

As a Habilitation Counselor at Devereux, you will support individuals in developing daily living, social, communication, and community integration skills that promote greater independence and an improved quality of life. You will assist with implementing individualized goals and support plans, provide guidance and encouragement throughout daily activities, maintain a safe and supportive environment, and complete required documentation, including progress notes and incident reports.

Starting pay: $20.00 /hr (Additional compensation for experience)

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be empathetic, a team player, energetic, creative, understand the theories of behavior management and positive reinforcement, and represent themselves as a positive role model with a strong passion for working with and helping children and adolescents with behavioral differences.

Requirements

• HS diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred in psychology, human services, sociology, social work, criminal justice, and/or education.
• Previous experience working with individuals under the age of 21 with psychological, emotional, and behavioral disorders, co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders, and/or conduct disorders preferred.
• Valid driver's license and satisfactory drug screen and background check results.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong technical skills and comfortable utilizing in-house computer applications for documenting and reporting purposes.
• Must be able to complete a two‑week paid new‑hire orientation class (approximately 8:30 am to 5:30 pm daily, lunch included).
