Job summary

Covenant Health's Gynecologic Oncology division is seeking a Non-Certified Medical Assistant to support the office with clerical and clinical duties. This PRN/OCC role features a Day Shift and variable hours, partnering with physicians and staff to coordinate patient care.

The position involves chart preparation, scheduling, patient communication, basic clinical tasks, and assistance with procedures under physician supervision. LPN/CNA/MA certification preferred; CPR required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Four years healthcare experience preferred.
• LPN license, CNA certification or MA certification preferred; CPR required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain patient charts including insurance, registration, and scans/reports; document in charts.
• Schedule and coordinate appointments, tests and procedures; notify departments of daily/weekly schedules.
• Answer incoming calls; assist patients and relay diagnostic test results as directed; follow up on issues.
• Assist physician with procedures such as bone marrow aspirations and biopsies; document findings.
• Record vital signs and alert physician to abnormalities.
• Perform medical history intake prior to physician visits.
• Prepare monthly statistics for administrator.
• Maintain supplies in exam rooms and clerical areas.
• Bill patient accounts; coordinate with Business Office for adjustments.
• Monitor insurance for pre-certifications; assist with reimbursements as needed.
• Complete forms for continuity of care (insurance, home health, hospice).
• Precertify insurance coverage for procedures ordered by physicians.
• Engage in professional development and participate in meetings as required.
