Job description
Overview

Carle Foundation Hospital is excited to add an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) who can be either PA or NP to Gynecologic Oncology Service at Carle Cancer Institute, an NCI Designated Community Oncology Research Program in Urbana, Illinois.

Opportunity Details
  • The APP would practice in out-patient setting at Carle Cancer Institute (CCI), and in-patient setting at Carle Foundation Hospital (CFH), working together with our fellowship trained Gynecologic Oncologists, Georgina Cheng, MD, PhD and Megan Hutchcraft, MD.
  • New graduates and candidates with experience are very welcome to apply.
  • Gynecologic Oncology is a surgical field for women with gynecologic malignancies such as uterine, ovarian, vulvar and vaginal cancers. Mentorship for new graduates and training for surgical assistance in the operating room (OR) will be provided since the APP would serve as a Surgical Assistant to the Gynecologic Oncologist in the OR.
  • The APP would practice in a multi-disciplinary setting with the Gynecologic Oncology Tumor Board and have plenty of opportunities for professional growth within the organization.
  • Carle is one of the rare Midwest hospitals to provide subspecialized care for women with gynecologic cancers. This APP would become an integral part of our growing Gynecologic Oncology program.
  • The APP would provide in-patient rounding on all hospitalized patients for the service at CFH. Both CFH and CCI are located on the same campus in Urbana.
  • The APP would also work together with Dr. Cheng and Dr. Hutchcraft in our Gynecologic Survivorship and Follow-up Clinic, educating women about their follow-up care and recognition of early symptoms of recurrent cancer. The service is now staffed with an experienced registered nurse (RN) who would assist during the orientation process for the new APP.
  • While the service has a low volume of hospitalized patients, the position may occasionally include some work on weekends for morning rounding on postoperative cases. Any weekend work would be fully compensated.
