Job summary

The Park District of Highland Park is seeking a Part-Time IMRF year-round Gymnastics Coordinator to run our gymnastics program at a brand-new 10,000 sq ft gym. You will supervise instructors, develop curriculum, and coordinate classes, registrations, and events under supervision of the Rec Supervisor.

The role requires leadership, safety awareness, and excellent communication with participants and staff; CPR/AED and proper gymnastic knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Experience supervising staff and coordinating programs.
  • CPR/AED certified or able to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and supervise gymnastics instructors.
  • Develop and supervise curriculum and classes.
  • Coordinate registrations, budgets, and events.
  • Promote programs with the Marketing Department.

Job Summary

We have an immediate opening for a Part-Time IMRF year-round Gymnastics Coordinator position! The Gymnastics Coordinator is responsible for running all aspects of Highland Parks gymnastics program under the supervision and guidance of the Recreation Supervisor and/or Program Manager at our brand-new, 10,000 square-foot gym!

Supervisory Responsibilities

Schedules and directly supervises all gymnastics instructors. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Essential Job Duties

Include, but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Structure, initiate, and supervise all gymnastics programs, including curriculum development and staffing.
  • Teach skills essential to the development and growth of gymnasts’ abilities and progress.
  • Possess knowledge of gymnastic skills and progressions, and proper apparatus execution.
  • Maintain and evaluate current classes and develop new classes.
  • Assist in coordinating the gymnastics schedule each session.
  • Be able to instruct all class levels, including competitive team.
  • Assist with registration and reports for gymnastics programs.
  • Assist with PDHP front desk procedures.
  • Hold informational staff meetings.
  • Assist with recommendations for the annual budget.
  • Work with the Marketing Department to promote programs and services through the website, program guide and other marketing materials, etc.
  • Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and supervise staff to operate areas of responsibility.
  • Coordinate and staff gymnastics parties and special events.
  • Ensure instructors are appropriately implementing lesson plans, class progress reports, and attendance sheets.
  • Maintain equipment and perform monthly safety inspection checklist.
  • Attend gymnastics and staff meetings.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with participants and the public in a professional and courteous manner through timely emails and phone calls with correct information.
  • Respond appropriately to participant and facility emergencies, including completion of accident/incident reports in a thorough, accurate and timely manner.
  • Act as manager on duty in absence of facility management staff.
  • Follow all Park District policies and procedures.
  • Performs other Park District-related duties as assigned.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

American Red Cross CPR/AED

Wage Range:

$22.75-$27.00 per hour

Classification:

Part-time IMRF, non-exempt

Must be able to respond quickly and accurately. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
