Job summary

The Little Gym of Bloomfield Hills is seeking an enthusiastic gymnastics instructor to teach grade-school students using our proven curriculum. You will help kids develop technique, confidence, and progressively challenging skills in a safe, supportive environment.

We train you in our curriculum and safety standards, then you’ll lead classes with energy, care, and attention to each child’s readiness. Availability is preferred on Monday/Wednesday evenings and Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on gymnastics experience through training, competition, and/or coaching.
• Ability to teach grade-school students and provide clear progressions and corrections.
• Strong safety awareness and ability to adapt instruction to each child’s readiness.

Responsibilities

• Teach gymnastics classes using The Little Gym curriculum, developing technique, confidence, and progressive skills.
• Break skills into progressions, adapt to each child’s readiness, and use safe spotting per training and safety standards.
• Create a warm, energetic environment where every child feels seen, celebrated, and challenged.
• Deliver a memorable member experience that makes families feel they belong.
• Keep the gym clean and sanitized, and complete opening/closing cleaning tasks.
• Set up, take down, and safely move small gym equipment and teaching props.

This role includes teaching our older grade-school students as they work on more challenging gymnastics skills.

Extensive gymnastics experience is required for this role.

We'll train you in The Little Gym's curriculum and teaching approach; you bring a strong gymnastics foundation.

What you will do

• Teach gymnastics classes using The Little Gym's proven curriculum, with a focus on helping grade-school students develop technique, confidence, and progressively more challenging skills
• Break skills into clear progressions, adapt instruction to each child's readiness, and use safe spotting techniques consistent with your training and The Little Gym's safety standards
• Create a warm, energetic environment where every child feels seen, celebrated, and challenged
• Treat each class like it's every kid's first day because to them, the magic never gets old
• Deliver the kind of member experience that makes families feel like they belong here because they do
• Keep the gym clean and ready for families by cleaning and sanitizing mats, equipment, and shared spaces, and completing assigned opening and closing cleaning tasks
• Set up, take down, and safely lift, carry, and move small gym equipment and teaching props before and after classes

You would fit right in if

• You have extensive hands-on gymnastics experience through sustained training, competition, and/or coaching, with a strong understanding of technique, skill progressions, and safe spotting
• You can apply that experience to teach grade-school children, recognize when a child is ready to progress, and give clear, encouraging corrections
• Experience coaching children's gymnastics, especially older grade-school students, is strongly preferred
• Kids love you and their parents do too
• You love having fun but know when to buckle down and get to work
• You bring patience, positive energy, and a love of helping children build confidence

Preferred availability

Availability on Monday and Wednesday evenings and on Saturdays is preferred.

Physical requirements

This is an active role that involves standing and moving throughout class, bending, kneeling, reaching, and working at children's height. Duties include lifting, carrying, and moving small gym equipment and teaching props, as well as routine cleaning and sanitizing. These duties may be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
