Through strong communication with neighboring agencies, operational oversight, vendor partnerships, and team leadership, Public Safety ensures the Authority’s facilities operate at the highest standards of quality, safety practices, emergency management, and incident response.GWCCA EXPLOSIVES ORDINANCE DISPOSAL K-9 HANDLER POSITION SUMMARYThe Authority is currently hiring an Explosive Detection Canine (EOD K9) Handler to join our team. The Explosive Detection Canine Handler is a sworn police employee certified by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) as a police officer. The EOD K9 Handler performs under general instruction, but with established policies and procedures to achieve successful results in support of the GWCCA’s mission, goals, policies, and objectives. This position reports to the Police Major.Successful candidates embody the Authority's core values of authenticity, accountability, and collaboration while carrying out the essential duties and responsibilities of the position. Candidates under final consideration must complete a criminal history evaluation and drug screening as a condition of employment.GWCCA EXPLOSIVES ORDINANCE DISPOSAL K-9 HANDLER WORK ENVIRONMENTLaw Enforcement work can be very dangerous and stressful. In addition to the obvious dangers of confrontations with criminals, police officers need to be constantly alert and ready to deal appropriately with a number of threatening situations. Officers frequently work weekends, holidays, and nights. Officers are expected to work at any time their services are needed and may work long hours standing post. Officers are expected to report for duty in full uniform with the appropriate and necessary equipment needed in the performance of their duty.
