Job summary

Ideal candidates have an A&P license, a high school diploma, 8+ years in aviation maintenance, and 4+ years in program-specific airframes.

  • Troubleshoot and evaluate aircraft systems; conduct FAA-compliant inspections.

Responsibilities

As a Lead Aircraft Maintenance Technician, your main focus will be to lead a team of technicians to produce timely results that are of the highest quality and accuracy. Successful individuals will be highly analytical, inquiring, and have a critical mind. This role requires imagination and strong problem-solving skills, with a robust technical orientation. Your primary functions will include:

  • Leading the team to complete necessary jobs/tasks while exercising good judgment.
  • Implementing a strong turnover of work to the next shift.
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce aircraft turnaround time.
  • Training and mentoring technicians assigned to your projects.
  • Supervising team members in daily workload.
  • Working independently and leading multiple projects as assigned, ensuring quality and schedule adherence.
  • Performing general mechanical functions on aircraft and related systems.
  • Troubleshooting and evaluating aircraft systems as designated.
  • Conducting inspections and evaluations of aircraft and components.
  • Moving aircraft and performing performance runs or taxiing as required.
  • Maintaining and repairing shop facilities, equipment, and tooling.
  • Engaging with customers in project management, pricing, and support roles.
  • Communicating effectively and clearly in English.
  • Completing any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
Requirements/Qualifications
Your Education
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and Airframe and Powerplant License are required.
  • A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Aerospace specific factory training is preferred.
Your Experience
  • 8+ years in aviation maintenance preferred.
  • 4+ years in program-specific airframes.
  • This position requires minimal supervision and will lead small groups in daily tasks.
  • Subject matter expertise demonstrating a wide and comprehensive knowledge of the job.

  • Attend work every day as scheduled, including overtime and weekend assignments.
  • Notify supervisor in advance if unable to work.

  • Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
  • Follow all company and safety rules during job performance.
  • Maintain customer-oriented work habits.
  • Direct the work and flow of multiple projects.
  • Supervise team members in daily operations.
  • Complete work orders and FAA paperwork.
Physical Requirements
  • Lifting at least 50 lbs.
  • Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting.
  • Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
  • Basic personal computer operations.
Mental Requirements
  • Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.
  • Troubleshooting and evaluating system operations.
  • Working with others in a professional manner.
  • Coordinating projects.
  • Demonstrating team management skills.
Supervision
  • Directly supervising multiple technicians.
  • Working under the supervision of an assigned Team Leader and Operations Manager.
  • Cooperating with other Team Leaders on multiple projects.
Working Conditions
  • The majority of work will be accomplished in a hangar environment, subject to hot or cold temperatures.
  • Outdoor work during aircraft runs may occur.
  • Varied positions in and around the aircraft.
Equipment Used
  • Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
  • Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment.
  • Jacks, stands, lifts, and other support devices.
  • Tugs, power carts, and other engine-powered equipment.
  • Personal computer and work order prints.
