Job summary

Uncommon Schools is seeking a passionate guitar instructor to lead the Guitar Project in a Boston-based program. You will guide students in acoustic or electric guitar performance, theory application, and solo arrangement, fostering fretboard autonomy and stylistic authenticity throughout the year.

You will teach Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30pm to 3:25pm (Sept–late May), participate in long-term coaching, and support students’ social, emotional, and academic development in a collaborative

Job Description

Course Description:

Our Guitar project is a rigorous musical undertaking designed to develop high-level proficiency in acoustic or electric guitar performance, music theory application, and solo arrangement. Students will bridge the gap between mechanical muscle memory and deep music theory. At the end of the year, students will perform in a live Guitar performance featuring a complex, multi-voiced arrangement that demonstrates complete fretboard autonomy, stylistic authenticity, and advanced structural technique.

Preparation & Practice Time:
Up to 2 hours per week preparing for Projects
Hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30pm-3:25pm

Long-term coaching during “Projects”: Meet with students Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1 hour each day, from September to late May.

Occasional after-school participation at school events and activities.

Compensation

Coaches will receive an annual stipend of $6,052.00 based on experience and contracted hours per week, paid semi-monthly.

If at any point during the year, you stop performing these responsibilities before they are fully completed, for any reason, your stipend will be adjusted in accordance.
