School of Rock Summer Creek in Houston seeks a high-level Guitar Instructor to develop students from beginner to advanced and prepare them for live performances. This role targets experienced musicians who run structured, outcome-driven lessons with high standards.

You will coach students to become confident guitarists, covering rhythm, lead, theory, improvisation, and repertoire, with emphasis on real-world performance and band readiness. Join a team that values excellence and measurable growth.

Qualifications

• 5+ years performing and/or teaching guitar.
• Strong foundation in guitar technique, theory, rhythm, and fretboard knowledge.
• Ability to teach both rhythm and lead guitar.
• Ability to teach beginners through advanced students.
• Experience coaching rock, pop, blues, and contemporary music.
• Strong improvisation and soloing skills.
• Ability to teach chords, scales, songs, and music theory in a practical musical context.
• Proven ability to work with youth and varying skill levels.
• High level of reliability and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, structured one-on-one guitar lessons.
• Adapt teaching approach across beginner, intermediate, and advanced students.
• Develop rhythm and lead guitar skills appropriate to each student's goals.
• Prepare students for rehearsals, performances, and School of Rock shows.
• Set clear goals and assign weekly practice.
• Track and communicate student progress consistently.
• Collaborate with other instructors and school leadership.
• Help students develop the skills, confidence, and professionalism required to perform as part of a band.
