Job summary

Guide Dogs of Texas seeks a qualified Guide Dog Mobility Instructor (GDMI) to train dogs and clients to IGDF standards. You will work with experienced GDMIs, delivering independent day-to-day training while upholding high quality and safety in every session.

The role combines advanced dog training, client assessment, and mentorship responsibilities, with opportunities to influence program evolution and engage with the broader guide dog community in Texas.

Qualifications

• GDMI trained at IGDF-accredited school with current IGDF certification.
• Understanding of positive reinforcement techniques in guide dog training; on-the-job training provided.

Responsibilities

• Assess and provide end-to-end training to dogs to IGDF standards.
• Continuously evaluate dogs in training for suitability to meet high standards.
• Mentor apprentice GDMIs and provide direct support.
