Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Orlando, FL is seeking an experienced Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer. You will specialize in modeling and simulation of complex technical solutions within Missiles and Fire Control, joining a team of systems technologists and algorithm developers.

The role involves designing model architectures, verifying high-fidelity simulations, and supporting ground and flight test activities, including HWIL.

Qualifications

  • Post Secondary STEM degree with 1+ years of relevant experience.
  • US Citizenship as an Interim Clearance is required to start.
  • Proficiency in C++.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and document model and simulation requirements and architecture.
  • Develop, verify, and validate complex models and simulations (e.g., 6-DOF missile/rocket/interceptor/UAS).
  • Evaluate system performance in complex scenarios and verify requirements at system and subsystem levels.
  • Leverage GNC principles to design digital representations of prototype systems for evaluations and trade studies.
  • Support ground and flight test efforts including HWIL activities.
  • Support program reviews and technical interchange meetings with leadership or customers.

What You Will Be Doing

We Are Seeking An Guidance, Navigation, And Control (GNC) Engineer Who Will Specialize In Modeling And Simulation Of Complex Technical Solutions. This Person Will Join a Highly Skilled Team Of Systems Engineering Technologists And Algorithm Developers Supporting Various Contracts And IRADs Within Missiles And Fire Control. Modeling & Simulation Engineer Tasks Include

  • Design Develop and documentation of model and simulation requirements and architecture
  • Develop, verify, and validate both complex models and simulations such as missile/rocket/interceptor/UAS 6-degree-of-freedom simulations (6-DOF) and effects-based simulations
  • Evaluate system performance in complex scenarios and environments and verify system and subsystem level requirements
  • Leverage GNC principles to design digital representations of prototype systems for performance evaluations and trade studies
  • Support ground and flight test efforts including Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) activities
  • Support program reviews and technical interchange meetings with internal leadership and/or external customers

Basic Qualifications
  • Post Secondary STEM degree with 1+ years of relevant experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen as an Interim Clearance is required to start.
  • Candidate must have fundamental proficiency in C++
  • Proficient in either MATLAB or Python
  • Candidate must have demonstrated the ability to perform one or more of the following Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) or Modeling and Simulation (M&S) assignments based on completed course work or professional experience:
  • Develop and analyze algorithms such as guidance, navigation, autopilot, inertial tracking, and servo control algorithms
  • Develop and/or verify/validate complex vehicle models and simulations such as missile 6-degree-of-freedom simulations
  • Demonstrate strong math skills in the areas of linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, trigonometry, and coordinate transformations
Desired Skills

Desired skills :

  • Proficiency with Python and Linux
  • Experience with Agile development
  • Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines and software version control such as Git
  • Strong written/verbal communication and organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Active Secret Clearance
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $81100.00 - $150500.00

PTO, vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
