About The Role

In this position, the selected candidate will report directly to the GNC Manager within the GNC Talent Center organization of Lockheed Martin Space. The Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) Subsystems and CoreSim Team is made up of enthusiastic and talented individuals that design and produce the hardware, algorithms, and software required to solve the challenging problems of controlling spacecraft systems in a harsh, zero-g environment.

In this Guidance, Navigation & Control Engineer (Staff, Level IV) position, we are seeking an experienced GNC Engineer who will serve as a Line of Sight (LOS) SME.

The role specifically is looking for a specialist in the subject of optical line of sight (LOS) jitter analysis for precision pointing spacecraft to support multiple satellite buses including, but not limited to, the LM400 and LM2100 satellite series. In addition to an expertise in the field of LOS jitter analysis, the candidate should have familiarity with GNC subsystem architecture, systems engineering, disturbance modelling, dynamometer testing, space vehicle jitter testing, requirements flow down, early program design and analysis, structural analysis, Damping, Dynamics Modeling, Modeling Uncertainty factors, LOS jitter analysis and time/frequency domain analysis.

Designs, develops, implements, verifies and tests algorithms to perform guidance, navigation and control of aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicles and upper stages during powered and coast phases of flight, earth orbit, interplanetary cruise and orbital insertion, as well as during staging events. Navigation functions include the statistical processing of measured data points and their substitution into algorithms simulating physical reality. Guidance functions include the formulation of specific equations and control laws to achieve a desired position in space. Control design and analyses processes consist of the development of the control requirements for aircraft, launch vehicles and/or spacecraft.

Basic Qualifications

• Possess advanced domain experience in spacecraft controller design and optimization.
• Experience in developing and verifying performance of simulation models in simulation environments using programming tools that include MATLAB/Simulink, C++
• Possess advanced domain experience in LOS modeling and analysis.
• Specialist in the subject of optical line of sight (LOS) jitter analysis for precision pointing spacecraft

Security Clearance / Work Authorization

• To meet requirements of the program/customer, this position requires the selected employee to be a U.S. Citizen.
• Interim Top Secret clearance is required to be considered qualified in addition to being the minimum level required prior to starting employment
• Selected candidates will be required to obtain, and maintain, a government issued Top Secret clearance for long term employment on this program.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $135700.00 - $251900.00
