  • Experience operating a point-of-sale system and handling cash transactions accurately.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-oriented while resolving guest concerns.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome every visitor with a friendly, professional, and engaging first impression.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by answering questions, offering directions, and assisting guests with museum information, exhibitions, programs, and events.
  • Process admissions, memberships, retail purchases, refunds, exchanges, gift certificates, credits, and applicable discounts accurately using the point-of-sale system.
  • Promote museum memberships, programs, exhibitions, and special events to encourage visitor engagement and support membership growth.
  • Respond to visitor concerns promptly, professionally, and courteously, escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Support daily Museum Store operations, including opening and closing procedures, merchandising, restocking, organizing inventory, and maintaining a clean, attractive retail environment.
  • Collaborate with the Museum Store Coordinator to merchandise new products, create appealing displays, and maintain inventory organization.
  • Process and fulfill online store orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Help minimize inventory loss by maintaining awareness of security concerns and reporting safety hazards or suspicious activity.
  • Support daily operations of Leo, the museum’s café, including opening and closing procedures, stocking merchandise and supplies, maintaining equipment, date labeling products, and ensuring cleanliness.
  • Prepare and serve hot beverages in accordance with established health and food safety standards.
  • Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and museum operating procedures.
  • Participate in annual physical inventory counts and periodic cycle counts.
  • Assist with museum events, public programs, and other operational needs as assigned.
  • Foster an inclusive, welcoming, and accessible environment for visitors, volunteers, members, and staff

JOB SUMMARY

The role occasionally requires bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, and climbing a step ladder. Employees must be able to lift and move merchandise, equipment, furniture, and boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Wednesday 11AM — 5PM
  • Thursday 11AM — 8PM
  • Friday 11AM — 5PM
  • Saturday 11AM — 5PM
  • Sunday Noon — 5PM

As a reminder, these are not the shifts, but rather the museum public operating hours.

Currently seeking two (2) part-time representatives. Weekly hours not to exceed 29 hours.
