Job summary

The Fresh Market is seeking a Guest Service Specialist to serve as the front-end point person for hospitality, guest flow, and cash operations. You will lead by example, maintain efficient cash controls, and ensure a consistently exceptional guest experience while upholding store standards.

Ideal candidates bring 2+ years in retail or hospitality, strong attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Flexible weekends and holidays are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years in retail, grocery, restaurant, or hospitality operations.
• Strong attention to detail with organizational skills and ability to multitask.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Be a visible example of hospitality, educating guests and team members on products and services.
• Manage front-end guest flow and efficiency by directing and supporting cashiers while ensuring backups are minimized to deliver frictionless checkout experiences.
• Execute and uphold cash office procedures and controls, including management of cash, keys, and the safe.
• Direct the guest service team as scheduled to maintain sanitation and cleanliness at the front end and guest restrooms.
• Support execution of digital fulfillment orders, ensuring speed, accuracy, and adherence to brand standards.
• Engage guests with a friendly, helpful approach at the front-end and throughout the store.
• Assist in managing the department, inventories, and team for effective minimization of product loss.

About the Position:

Availability:

This position requires the willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, days, evenings, and holidays.

Qualifications:

At a minimum, what you’ll need:

• 2+ years of experience in retail, grocery, restaurant, or hospitality operations.
• Strong attention to detail with organizational skills, ability to multitask, and work at a fast pace.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Retail, culinary, and/or grocery experience.
• Experience with electronic shelf label systems, inventory management technology, or AI-enabled retail tools.

Physical and Work Conditions:

• Repetitive hand/arm movements, grasping, bending, reaching, ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds by oneself, and exposure to extreme temperatures.
• Ability to use tools and equipment: knives, ladders, stepstools, box cutters, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
• Required to spend long periods of time on their feet and stand or walk without a break (for up to 4 hours or as required by law).
• Required to wear an approved hat, hair net, and/or beard guard, and personal protective equipment.
