Job summary

Wegmans is hiring for a cashier who will help customers end their shopping trips with a positive experience. You’ll provide proactive customer service across traditional checkout and self-checkout lanes, scan items, process payments, and bag items for safe delivery.

This role emphasizes friendly customer interactions, accuracy at the register, and maintaining a clean, well-stocked workspace while supporting a mission-driven, people-first workplace culture at Wegmans.

Qualifications

• Experience operating a cash register.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to assist customers at self-checkout.
• Able to stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Engage customers in friendly conversation while making eye contact and smiling; proactively offer additional assistance, thank customers for shopping at Wegmans
• When on register, efficiently and accurately scan items and process payments
• Properly bag items to ensure products arrive at their destination in the condition they left the store
• When in self-checkout area, manage traffic flow, direct customers to available lanes, ensure the lanes are in good working order and assist customers with system troubleshooting
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work space
