Job summary

SpartanNash in Dickinson, ND is seeking a Part-time Guest Care Associate to deliver friendly service at the register and help guests in-store. You’ll handle transactions, answer questions, and direct customers to the right department.

You’ll operate the cash register, process payments including coupons and loyalty cards, restock and maintain a clean department, and follow safety guidelines and PPE. Prior retail experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Good verbal communication skills; ability to interact politely and effectively with customers.
• Good customer service and organizational skills; detail-oriented.
• Good reading, writing and arithmetic skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous guest service in person or by telephone; answer calls and direct to the appropriate department.
• Operate cash register to itemize customer purchases and assist guests with self-checkouts; handle transactions.
• Process financial transactions including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, rain checks, voids, and coupons.
• Maintain understanding of current store programs and product locations; ensure safety and sanitation procedures are followed.
• Notify department lead or manager of pricing, register issues, or other concerns; assist with other departments as needed.

Also responsible for operating cash register and/or assisting guests with self-checkouts.**Here's what you’ll do:*** Provide courteous guest service in person or by telephone; answer incoming calls to the retail store and direct calls to the appropriate department and assist with guest questions in store.* Perform/process guest services transactions such as credits, over-rings, refunds, lottery ticket sales, money orders/transfers (Western Union), media related purchases, etc. in accordance with Company policies.* Operate cash register to itemize customer purchases and assist guests with self-checkouts; handles a variety of products which may include dry groceries, frozen foods, dairy products, produce, poultry, fish, beef and pork products.* Process financial transactions including, but not limited to; cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, rain checks, voids, and coupons; and bag customer purchases.* Maintain understanding of current store programs and product locations.* Understand use of check-stand equipment (register, self-checkouts) and its efficient operation.* Comply with Company policies regarding security, cash handling/cash drawer accounting procedures, product handling (i.e., damaged/spoiled products), the sale of alcohol and tobacco products, etc.* Communicate the Company programs (i.e., loyalty program, scans, etc.), in-store specials and coupons to customers, and models high standards of service to achieve a customer oriented store.* Maintain a clean and well-stocked department; ensure the department complies with Company safety and sanitation procedures and standards.* Notify the department lead or manager of any issues with pricing, cash registers, etc.* Follow all PPE and Safety Guidelines* Follow all Food Safety and Cleaning Expectations* Follow Guest Experience Guidelines* May be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience need* Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed**Here’s what you’ll need:*** High school diploma or GED (required)* One year of prior retail or related experience preferred.* Good verbal communication skills; ability to interact politely and effectively with customers.* Good customer service and organizational skills; detail-oriented.
