Pay Rate
The annual base salary range for this position $113,120 - $141,400. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. About the Role
The Tactical Systems Engineer - Senior provides advanced technical and analytical support to a Naval Special Warfare Special Mission Unit (NSW-SMU) in support of mission planning, execution, and post-mission activities. This position serves as a senior technical resource responsible for the readiness, integration, sustainment, and troubleshooting of classified and unclassified mission planning systems, tactical applications, communications, and associated mission equipment supporting special operations requirements.
The engineer works directly with operational users and government stakeholders to identify technical requirements, resolve complex system issues, evaluate and integrate new capabilities, maintain mission planning environments, and provide technical guidance and training. The position requires the ability to operate independently, exercise sound technical judgment, and provide responsive support in dynamic and time-sensitive mission environments.

Experience Requirements
- Minimum of seven (7) years of operational experience with or supporting an organization’s navigation and mission planning techniques, including preparation and checkout/validation of flight plans for aircraft weapons systems, or mission planning computer systems, communications, mission equipment, and planning techniques, including preparation of unit mission plans for peacetime and wartime special operations missions.
- Experience providing technical support for mission planning and execution systems within classified and unclassified DoD environments.
- Experience installing, configuring, imaging, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Windows-based systems and associated mission planning hardware and software.
- Experience supporting mission planning computer systems, communications, networks, tactical applications, and associated mission equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting complex hardware, software, network, application, and interoperability issues in operational environments.
- Experience supporting system integration, configuration management, operational testing, and fielding or sustainment of technical capabilities.
- Working knowledge of DoD cybersecurity requirements, including system hardening, vulnerability identification and remediation, STIG implementation, and support to system authorization requirements.
- Experience providing direct technical support and training to operational users in dynamic and time-sensitive mission environments.
- Ability to independently analyze technical and operational requirements, identify solutions, and communicate technical recommendations to government and technical stakeholders.
Desired / Preferred Experience
- Direct experience supporting Naval Special Warfare, a Special Mission Unit, or other SOF operational organization.
- Experience supporting NSW mission planning and execution systems, tactical applications, communications, and mission equipment.
- Experience with TAK-based capabilities, including ATAK, WinTAK, TAK Server, or other tactical situational-awareness applications.
- Experience supporting Tactical Local Area Network (TACLAN) capabilities or similar deployable tactical network environments.
- Experience with geospatial, imagery, mapping, and mission-data products used in support of special operations mission planning.
- Experience integrating tactical communications, mission planning systems, situational-awareness applications, sensors, or other operational technologies.
- Experience supporting capability evaluation, operational testing, fielding, modernization, or integration of new technologies within a SOF environment.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Experience developing technical documentation, training materials, test plans, or system-support procedures.
- Demonstrated experience serving as a senior technical resource, mentor, or trainer within an operational support environment.
