Job summary

Gatlinburg SkyPark is seeking a full-time Custodian responsible for performing custodial maintenance duties including cleaning, sweeping, mopping, and maintaining supplies.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, with no prior experience necessary. Strong understanding of safety procedures and cleaning chemicals is preferred. Working hours may be day or night, including weekends.

Overview

The Custodian is a full-time, year-round position at the Gatlinburg SkyPark. As the Custodian, you will perform custodial maintenance duties, including but not limited to dusting, sweeping & mopping floors, washing windows , cleaning and restocking restrooms.

Responsibilities

Performs custodial maintenance duties, including but not limited to dusting, sweeping & mopping floors, washing windows, , cleaning and restocking restrooms.

Essential Job Functions (including but not limited to)

• Performs general, routine custodial duties, to include dusting, sweeping, mopping, , cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies.
• Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.
• Empties trash receptacles, disposes trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal.
• Unlocks doors, ensuring doors are locked after cleaning areas.
• Reports needs and concerns to appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels.
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Assists in on-the-job training of new staff on routine procedures.
• Performs cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal/project requirements.
• May provide vendors with access to areas for cleaning and may answer basic questions. May report issues with vendors to supervisor.
• May assist or perform snow removal activities and minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, or other similar activities.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications (knowledge, skills, certifications, education, etc)

• High School diploma or GED, no previous experience required.
• Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and products and safety procedures for their use.
• Ability to understand verbal instructions.
• Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
• Ability to operate vacuums and other related equipment.
• Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
• Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
• Ability to understand written and verbal communications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and products and safety procedures for their use,
• Previous work in custodial positions.

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects. Must able to bend, reach, and use movements required to complete assigned tasks.
• Considerable physical activity. Requires physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
• Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
• Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Work Environment

This position requires both inside and outside responsibilities. Employee will be exposed to elements at times.

Position Type And Expected Hours Of Work

This position is full-time, year-round day or night and weekend position.

Travel

Traveling may be required for this position during special events or certain situations.
