Job summary

Swissport seeks a Fleet Mechanic to service and maintain Ground Service Equipment at a designated station, ensuring safe, reliable equipment for the airport environment. This full-time role requires performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and accurate documentation while adhering to safety standards.

The position involves working outdoors in all weather, potential overtime during weather events, and travel for training as needed.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required.
• Good command of English (verbal and written).
• Trade school training or mechanical background preferred.
• Willing to travel for training or to assist other SP stations as required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and drive all types of Ground Service Equipment (GSE).
• Perform preventive maintenance per established schedules on GSE.
• Provide troubleshooting and diagnostic assessment of GSE as required.
• Work with hydraulic systems; willing to learn hydraulics.
• Complete maintenance/repair documentation in line with SP and regulatory requirements.
• Respond to emergency service calls involving GSE and accidents.

Job SummaryFleet Mechanic is responsible for service and maintenance, keeping in good order all Ground Service Equipment at a designated station, keeping Swissport Ramp and other service agencies safe with reliable equipment that meets all local and governing laws.

The expected pay rate is $29/hr. Full-time employees are offered a range of health and wellness benefits as well as 401(k) with company match paid vacation time, sick time, and company paid holidays.

Your activities

• Operate and drive all types of GSE equipment ndash; motorized and non-motorized.
• Perform and show competence in preventive maintenance per established schedules on all ground support equipment
• Provide trouble-shooting and diagnostic assessment of ground support equipment as required
• Hydraulic knowledge or basics necessary. Must be willing to learn hydraulic systems
• Airport deicing training will be required. Reporting to work during snow, Ice and cold weather required. Overtime is necessary during weather emergencies
• Will be working outside in all weather conditions year-round
• Remove malfunctioning ground support equipment from service and ensure GSE is not returned to service until malfunction has been accurately diagnosed and repaired
• Respond to emergency service calls as well as accidents involving ground support equipment
• Complete all maintenance/repair documentation consistent with carrier, station, airport authority, municipal, state, federal and SP requirements
• Comply with all federal, provincial, municipal, airport authority and carrier security requirements
• Will retain a motor vehicle driverrsquo;s license for both air side / non airside in good standing at all times
• Follow all safety guidelines set out by WCB, EPA, WHIMIS, and SP management
• Keep GSE shop and its equipment always clean and serviceable, report all deficiencies to management
• Fuel equipment as necessary with full regard for all safety and environmental requirements
• Will liaison with Ramp management, customers and staff in a professional manner when needed
• Work as a self-starter and report to shop leads daily

Your profile

• Valid drivers license
• Good command of the English language both verbal and written
• Trade school training and or a mechanical background preferred.
• Good oral and verbal communication skills
• Willing to clean and maintain a safe workshop.
• Willing to travel when necessary for training or to assist other SP stations with GSE needs as required
