Job description

Develop Health is on a mission to use AI to radically accelerate access to life‑saving medications. By automating complex, manual healthcare processes—like benefit verification and prior authorization— we've been growing rapidly and over the past couple of years have helped over 2.5 million patients!

We’re partnering with some of the largest pharmacy benefit managers and payers in the nation, revolutionizing how healthcare interactions occur by eliminating human delays and inefficiencies. Our small, elite team of founders and engineers have previously launched and exited successful healthcare startups including Rupa Health and Canvas Medical. We are now scaling rapidly following a major funding round.

About The Role

We're hiring a full-time Growth Marketing Lead to get provider offices responding to us the first time we reach them, and to support the top of our funnel.

When a pharmacy sends us a prescription that needs a prior authorization, we usually need something from the prescriber's office, most often the clinical notes. Many of those offices have never heard of us. We reach them by fax, email, and secure message to their EHR, and our calling team follows up by phone. Whether an office responds to that first contact decides how quickly a patient starts their medication.

You'll join our provider activation team, reporting to our Head of Provider Growth (to our CEO until that role is filled) and working alongside our calling, product, and engineering teams. You'll be our first dedicated marketing hire. Most of your time goes to one funnel, provider activation, and you'll own it end to end. The rest goes to top‑of‑funnel work with our sales team.

Three things define success in this role:

  1. You own the response rate. You own the faxes, emails, and secure messages we send offices the first time we need something from them: the copy, the timing, the channel mix for different kinds of offices, and the share of first‑time offices that respond.

  2. You find what works and scale it. You run tests by channel and type of office, add new channels when the numbers support it, and stop what doesn't move response.

  3. You ship it yourself, AI‑first. You go from an idea to a live test without a review committee. You produce the work personally, using AI tooling to move quickly, and you have the taste to know when something is good enough to go out.

You don't need a healthcare background, but you do need to pick up a complex domain quickly. Startup experience is a strong plus.

What You'll Do

Get first‑time provider offices to respond

  • Own the faxes, emails, and secure messages that reach a provider office the first time we need something from it, and the response rate they produce.

  • Decide timing, copy, and channel mix by type of office (practice size, specialty, history with us), using our outreach playbooks to run a mix and compare results.

  • Work with our calling team so phone and digital touches work together on the same offices.

Test and grow channels

  • Run tests across channels and copy, read the results, and decide what to keep.

  • Bring in new channels, like text messaging and HCP messaging networks, and run them against the same response number.

  • Make Develop Health familiar to provider offices before our first request arrives, through the places they already look, like EHR marketplace listings and provider‑facing pages.

  • Work with product and engineering on what we track, so every response can be traced to the touch that earned it.

Support top of funnel (a smaller share of your time)

  • Run outbound and nurture campaigns that bring new pharma manufacturers, pharmacies and hubs into conversations with our sales team.

Ship the work

  • Produce the outreach itself: faxes, emails, messages, the pages offices land on, and leave‑behinds for in‑person visits.

  • Work AI‑first. Most production here is a matter of using the right tools well and knowing when the output is ready to ship.

  • Make it repeatable: reusable templates and playbooks the team can pull from.

What You'll Bring On Day 1
  • Hands‑on ownership of multiple channels. You have personally run the channels you're claiming. You didn't direct an agency to run them.

  • Multi‑touch programs measured on response. You've run outbound or lifecycle sequences across more than one channel, measured them on response or conversion, and can show how you decided what to change.

  • Results you can point to. A program you built or scaled, with the starting number, what you changed, and where it ended up.

  • Genuine fluency with current AI tooling. Your workflow should look materially different than it did six months ago. You choose deliberately between tools and can explain the reasoning, and you have automation doing real work on your behalf.

  • Taste. You recognize strong messaging and design, and you can articulate why it works.

  • Quantitative fluency. You decompose a funnel, design a fair test, and know when to stop investing in something.

What You'll Need To Learn Quickly
  • Our domain: prior authorization, benefit verification, and medication access, and why it matters to providers, pharmacies, and patients.

  • How a provider office works: who opens the fax, who answers the phone, who handles prior authorizations, and what makes them act on a request from someone they don't know.

  • Our product story: the proof points, and how to communicate them plainly and credibly.

Bonus Points
  • Early marketing hire at a high‑growth health‑tech or early‑stage startup.

  • Exposure to healthcare provider offices or pharmacy operations.

  • Hands‑on with SMS, direct mail, or other channels that reach busy offices outside email.

This Might Not Be The Right Fit If
  • You want to run brand or pipeline marketing full‑time. You'll support top of funnel, but most of the job is provider activation, and it's measured on that number.

  • You work primarily through agencies or a team. We need someone with direct, hands‑on ownership of the channels they run.

  • You use AI occasionally versus constantly. Our production speed depends on it.

What We Offer
  • Competitive base salary plus meaningful early‑stage equity.

  • High‑end design and AI tooling (Figma, Notion, Claude Design, and more).

  • Work that directly accelerates access to medication for hundreds of thousands of patients, with room to grow as the function scales.
