Job description

AI is eating the world. How we work is evolving. Employees everywhere are discovering that they can build their own software with AI. No longer do you need to wait on IT or use that SaaS product your employer forces on you ( IYKYK ) just to trudge everyday through 12 screens for the 3 things you actually use; now you can simply ask for what you need and AI will make it. Greenlight gives IT a safe way to put those apps into production. We're looking for a creative, curious, hands‑on marketer who builds with AI and wants to own the pipeline for a new, innovative, and category-defining product. You'll get in early at a fast-growing startup and help shape how companies deploy AI safely.

About Shift

Shift builds AI products. We help organizations apply AI to real workflows through custom AI systems, workflow automation, and our own products built for regulated environments. Our founder, Michael J Prichard, shares, "I started Shift because I love working with smart, motivated people to solve hard problems."

Our mission is to craft products that elevate human creativity and intelligence, and our vision is a world where AI amplifies human potential.

About Greenlight

We built Greenlight after seeing the same problem at client after client. Employees were vibe coding everything from simple dashboards to full CRM replacements, and IT had no safe way to get those apps into production. Good ideas sat in a long queue or ended up running somewhere they shouldn't. Greenlight is what we built to fix that. IT deploys and governs those apps in its own cloud, and employees keep using the coding agent they already like. We've come to love working on it. See how it works at greenlightbyshift.com .

Why this role

This role goes well beyond a typical growth marketing job. You'll get hands‑on experience in demand gen, field marketing, performance marketing, and content, and you'll help run our marketing from end to end. If you want to broaden your range, you'll get to work on every part of it.

  • As an early member of our marketing team, you'll work directly with our CMO and our founder.
  • Your ideas will matter.
  • You'll see the pipeline and revenue your programs produce.
  • Because the category is new, the campaigns you run will help define how buyers understand it.
  • We build our own marketing tools on Greenlight, including our campaign tracker and a YouTube sponsorship scanner, and you'll do the same.
  • There's plenty of room to grow as the team does.
What you'll do

First and foremost, your job is to bring the right buyers into our pipeline and help more of them become customers. We expect you to be creative. To look for marketing opportunities where others apply the same old, tired playbook. We need to break through the noise; stand out from the herd. This means, some weeks you may be launching a campaign or fixing a landing page that isn't converting. Other weeks you might host a dinner for IT leaders or turn a customer's results into a case study that drives installs. Or executing on that “wacky” idea you pitched in last week’s marketing check‑in.

Demand Generation
  • Plan and launch campaigns with clear pipeline goals
  • Improve landing pages, forms, and email follow‑up so more interested buyers convert into sales opportunities
  • Build target account lists and outbound messaging for account‑based campaigns
  • Track results from first touch to closed deal
Paid media and sponsorships
  • Build relationships with podcast hosts and creators, and manage our sponsorships
  • Build and run ad campaigns on social channels
  • Manage our review site profiles and collect reviews from happy customers
Events
  • Help plan and host regional dinners and events, where buyers get to know us in person
  • Promote events and drive attendance with social posts and email outreach
  • Handle booth materials and swag, along with handouts and other event collateral
  • Own onsite logistics and lead capture, and make sure every lead gets followed up
Content Marketing
  • Produce customer case studies in video and written formats
  • Write product use case articles and how‑to guides for our website, optimized for search and AI answer engines
  • Build sales decks and one‑pagers for our team uses on calls, plus demo scripts
  • Create social content and thought leadership for LinkedIn, and answer relevant questions on sites like Reddit
  • Build relationships with journalists and respond to media requests to earn PR coverage
How we use AI

We use AI to cut down tedious busywork. If a task is slow or repetitive, you'll build something to handle it, like an agent that drafts case studies from call transcripts or a dashboard that tracks campaign pipeline. You'll often build these inside Greenlight. You'll also use Claude daily for research and first drafts, and it’s critical you have great judgment to discern what quality outputs look like. An engineering background isn't required, but you should be comfortable experimenting with coding agents and writing for a technical audience.

What success looks like in your first six months
  • A steady flow of qualified opportunities sourced by marketing
  • Landing pages and follow‑up that convert better than when you started
  • Events and sponsorships running on a repeatable playbook, with clear ROI
  • Customer stories and use case content that help sales close deals
  • Marketing workflows you’ve built that saves the team time
What you bring
  • 3-6+ years of hands‑on B2B marketing experience, ideally in software or tech
  • Experience owning campaigns from idea to measurable pipeline
  • Comfort being measured on pipeline and revenue
  • Strong relationship skills with customers and technical buyers
  • Something you've built with a coding agent like Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex that you can walk us through
  • Strong writing skills and the editorial judgment to fix generic or inaccurate AI drafts
  • Hands‑on experience with LinkedIn ads or another paid platform, plus working knowledge of SEO and conversion optimization
  • Enough skill in Canva, Figma, Descript, or similar tools to produce clean designs and videos yourself
Bonus points
  • Experience marketing to IT, security, or engineering audiences
  • Trade show or field event experience
  • Time at an early‑stage startup
How we work

Our core values:

  • Humanity comes first. We strive to improve the lives of our fellow human beings.
  • Mavericks welcome. We cherish non‑conformists, original thinkers, and problem‑solvers.
  • It's a team sport. We win as a team through trust, autonomy, and ownership.
  • Sweat the right details. We take pride in our work and it shows in the end result.

We work in small teams of 2 to 5. Everyone works from our Charlottesville office Monday through Thursday, and Friday is work‑from‑home optional. We don't offer remote work. Expect some travel for events.
